On the road again.
So after working our asses off in Mackay for 5 long months it came time to leave and continue our adventure. Excited and scared we set of for Airlie beach our first stop only an hour from Mackay and a place we had been to before. A good start to ease us back into the nomadic lifestyle again. We were lucky enough to get 4 nights accommodation at the big 4 caravan park for the price of 3 on top of some awesome deals on things to do through there information centre. If you have ever spent time in a big 4 caravan park you will under stand that they are the best parks out. Everything is always tidy and clean, plenty of stuff to do and great amenities. But they are usually quiet pricy so you can imagine us being pretty pumped to get such a deal (to this date cheapest stay at a caravan park).

heading of in our new home complete with fixed solar panel and bike rack
paddle boarding wasn’t elkes thing but just floating around was fun
the Whitsundays are beyond words
During our stay in Mackay we made quiet a few mods to our car and trailer to make our life easier and we were seeing the benefits right away. Firstly we had a bike rack welded to the back of the trailer which gave us soooooo much extra room, absolute game changer. Solar panel mounted to the roof of the wagon ensuring constant solar, weather permitting. We also ditched some winter stuff we were not going to need, talk to us in 6 months to see if that decision was a good one or not. So all this gave us considerably more room and is just so much more economical. Once settled into our tent we decided to go organise some stuff to do during our stay in Airlie. First up we organised a tour through the Whitsundays that included snorkelling the reef, a visit to Whitehaven beach, paddle boarding and much more. We went with the whitsunday bullet and I could not recommend them enough, educated guides with a good sense of humour who were genuinely passionate about there job. Elke and I had never been snorkelling before and struggled a bit to start with but I can’t wait to go again. Seeing an entire new world under the water was absolutely incredible. We tried our hands in paddle boarding and tell you first hand its hard as hell haha, through persistence and a lot of frustration I was able to paddle around slowly. Elke on the other hand could not get her head around it. All in all our experience was great even with the weather being a little gross. We had organised a fishing charter for the next day but weather continued to worsen and it unfortunately got cancelled so we spent the day just chilling in Airlie. Even in shitty weather the Whitsundays are a gorgeous place to be.
