Home and the Future

So after the whole south Australia, van episode we were able to catch ride home with our stuff with some of elkes family heading to an engagement party back home that we were also invited to. The return for us was bitter sweet, seeing family was great but the disappointment and even a bit of embarrassment of our failed start was very present. Coincidentally my brother who had just returned from a lengthy stint over seas with the army had come to visit mum the same week we returned. Living in far North Queensland its not often I get to spent to much time with him, but when we are together its like we have never been apart. living in far North Queensland for the last 5 years we decided to go to mount buffalo and play in some snow like we used to when we were younger.

A question we got asked a lot was whats next. We were quiet determined not give up and to continue our travels, we had saved a good amount of money over in south Australia picking citrus so it was possible without digging into our savings. We thought about going for another van but decided against that option after remembering all the work that went into our previous van, we just didn’t have the time and the money. After many discussions with my dad a very resourceful mechanicaly minded man we had come up with a few options. A wagon with a roof top tent, a wagon and camper trailer or a 4wd with a rooftop tent were the top options. If it was just me I would probably have gone for one of the rooftop options but being a couple we just needed the space so camper trailer was our favoured option. We were lucky enough to know an older couple selling a really good one really cheap. So after a quick look we were sold on the idea.
