Waterfalls of Australia
Here is a collection of my favourite waterfall images I have taken. I shoot at a variety of shutter speeds to produce different atmosphere in my images. Shooting a long exposure will create smooth flowing water making for a dreamy, surreal feeling. I find I like to shoot my waterfall images between 1/4 of a second to 1 second, Shooting at a shutter speed longer than 1 second starts to look unnatural. A shorter exposure creates a more dramatic image and a feeling of rushing, powerful water. When shooting larger waterfalls I often shoot at a faster speed up to 1/250 of a second at times. This creates a dramatic powerful scene that you will not get in a long exposure. In my opinion waterfalls are one of the most dramatic and interesting things you can photograph in landscape photography. Waterfalls can be deceptively difficuilt to shoot, I always find bad weather produces the best waterfall images. This brings a whole new set of challenges on top of the obvious, already present challenges. Choose art over comfort and you can get some amazing results, along with having the waterfall all to yourself.
